Two
New APRs!
Congratulations to Karin Stangl
and Monique Uher!
The New Mexico Chapter of
PRSA has two new accredited in public relations (APR) members: Karin
Stangl and Monique Uher. Karin and Monique were successful candidates
during the fall 2001 exam period.
Karin Stangl,
APR has been the assistant commissioner of communication for the New Mexico
State Land Office since January of 1999.
She handles media relations and public affairs for Commissioner of
Public Lands Ray Powell.
Before coming to the
State Land Office, Stangl was senior media representative for PNM, Public
Service Company of New Mexico. Prior
to that, she worked 13 years for the University of New Mexico School of
Medicine’s Biomedical Communications Department.
She worked as a morning news anchor/reporter for KOAT-TV for three
years.
Stangl received a
master of arts degree and a bachelor of arts degree from the University of
New Mexico.
Monique Uher, APR, the communication
officer for Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute, is president of
the New Mexico Chapter of PRSA. At T-VI, she oversees the strategic
communication, public relations and marketing efforts of the campus.
She was formerly the director of marketing
at St. Joseph Healthcare and the associate vice president of marketing for
The Bank of New Mexico (now Wells Fargo) where she managed the public
relations and charitable outreach functions of the organization.
Monique graduated from UNM with a BA in
communication with an emphasis in PR. She also graduated with honors from
the School of Bank Marketing & Management
at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
